I see this as a possible mistake on Sansa’s part to tell Petyr she knows what he wants. He’s not a stupid man. That’s something she should have kept to herself if she is planning on playing him for his lust/love for her/power. Now he knows what she’s thinking. He’s the one that told her, “once you know what a man wants, you know how to move him”.
I just don’t think Petyr is dumb or blind enough to ignore his own advice. He can read people extremely effectively and knows how to play them. This just shows still that Sansa has a lot to learn in regards to playing as well as Petyr. You don’t tell your game plan. And that’s what I think she mistakenly did here.
He fishes for information on why she saved him. Okay, she trusts him more than strangers and took a gamble on staying with him. But what is she thinking in choosing him? Oh, she thinks she knows what he really wants or his end game and how to use it against him? And his line of “Do you?” I think points to either:
A. Us learning that she has no clue as to what Petyr really wants or his true motivations. He is lightly calling her out. Or even daring her to prove she think she knows him/what he wants.
B. He is letting her think she may have the upper hand in regards to him because he now knows she thinks she does.
If he had said nothing in response to her….I could see how she would look like she has him pegged. But he shows his self awareness in “Do you?” . Whether he thinks kissing her was a moment of weakness on his part…he knows she thinks she has him pegged and not letting her get the better of him. He can either make it work for him and eventually against her if need be. I just don’t see him being completely stupid and letting her play him like an idiot.
I will be really upset if they play Petyr now as only Sansa’s puppet. He’s far more interesting than her character. Since we do not have his POV in the books, we cannot know his true end game until he presents itself. I would rather see a partnership between them.
It really makes me wonder how much Aidan knows about the future of Petyr. He’s hinted (or rather trolled the fandom) that he may.
Because the way he is playing him…really makes me wonder just how far ahead Petyr is in the game and how much everyone has underestimated him.
We agreed on this before and that’s the turning point of everything. I HOPE this is a mistake by her or better, an overrating of her knowledge of him. I love how he defied her by saying “You think you know me”. This came in an episode where Petyr’s identity and origins are a very sensitive spot, for himself before others. No, sweetling, maybe you know what he’s currently sexually attracted by, but you don’t know him at all. I want a real relationship between them, loving or battling or both, but I’m definitely sick of the whole “Girl Power Sansa go take him down” outthere, it’s just a stale parody of feminism and coming from very young women, it’s pretty unsettling.
